2025 Bridging Generations: Youth & Elder Together

Organized by the the Association of Volunteers Social Service Macao and sponsored by Social Welfare Bureau，this activity involved 8 young volunteers who visited 4 households of elderly residents living alone on July 21 and August 15.

The visitation program not only brought warmth to the elderly but also provided young volunteers with invaluable wisdom. Participant Ms. Wu shared, “I initially thought I'd just be keeping the elderly company, but I ended up gaining the most. I learned how to neatly fold the plastic bags piled in the corner of my home.” One elderly woman expressed her heartfelt gratitude: “Having someone willing to listen to my stories makes me feel valued.”

This event cultivates empathy and social responsibility among youth while providing emotional support and social connections for seniors, effectively alleviating loneliness. Our organization urges more citizens to pay attention to the emotional needs of the elderly and work together to foster a friendly and inclusive community environment.
