Life Gatekeeper —Directed Practice Training
The “Life Gatekeeper” training program, organized by the Association of Volunteers Social Service and funded by the Social Welfare Bureau, conducted its practical training session from December 13 to 14, following the basic and advanced courses. This series aims to enhance participants’ understanding of suicide prevention and intervention capabilities, equipping them with skills to identify potential warning signs.
Suicidal behavior is often hidden and difficult to detect, with many individuals in crisis not actively seeking help. Therefore, the course specifically targets participants who have completed the “Life Gatekeeper” basic and advanced courses, transforming theoretical knowledge into practical skills. The content covered methods for early identification of suicide warning signs and effective communication techniques to provide necessary support.

Through the two days of training, participants gained a deeper understanding of the characteristics of high-risk suicide groups while also boosting their confidence and coping abilities. With the knowledge and skills they acquired, these volunteers will be better equipped to support individuals facing potential psychological crises in their future volunteer work, contributing to the overall mental health of the community.
